A new article entitled “Lessons from Yosemite a decade after Rim blaze” was published by Corinne Purtill in the LA Times today. I find it hard to believe that she is still noting that a view of the aftermath of the fire left her speechless not because of its beauty, but because of the scorched earth and charred, dead trees. And Scott Stephens from Berkeley was quoted saying that the place could be beautiful again if we planted and prescribe burned. Yikes! It’s 2025 and we still steer the public toward a negative view of the beautiful forest transformation that followed the Rim Fire.
