Timing of prescribed burning

It was a clear, bluebird day last week when the Lolo posted this picture of a prescribed burn in the Seeley Lake area. I can’t help but think about what I wrote under the “pre-fire harvesting and prescribed burning” section of the fire story page. No plant or animal species is adapted to out-of-season burning, so what kind of ecological damage might be associated with this practice? Just wondering.
